The Elves took the first drive and managed to crowd both bulls early, leaving captainmalkor little chance to halt the drive, as the elves stalled to score at the end of the half for 1-0.
Second half was all about the CDs, as the Elves could do nothing. Failed dodges and GFI's littered the half for the Elves (as shown in the luck %), who could not halt the CDs who tied for 1-1. There was still time for a one turn attempt, but perfect defence put pay to that.
With two lots of KO rolls after the CD score the Elves were back to full strength for overtime, although kicking. The CDs caged the ball, but the Elves engaged the melee and after finally being presented a chance, stole the ball away for 2-1.
The CDs drove once more with the Elves returning to their old habbits, with a double 1 GFI as a 2D blitz on the ball carrier presented itself. captainmalkor took advantage of the situation well and calmy took the score to 2-2 in overtime turn 8. There was still time for another one turn attempt, but double skulls on the first block halted that, although the lack of rerolls always made a score unlikely.
In the end the luck the Elves struggled to find on dodges and GFI's in the game more than repaid itself by sending the Elves through, as the CDs, who for so very long looked favourites to progress went out of the tournament.
All in all and fun game against a fun opponent, in which Blood Bowl was the winner.”
“These are always how i envisioned tourney matches to be. Good solid play at times, fair ammount of good and bad luck...enough casualties to make it worthy of BlackBox. Hats off to DukeTyrion, clearly the better coach as evidenced by a well thought out and executed play to peal the ball away from my very boxed in bull and score early into OT. Alas the game was finally decided by a coin toss which went to Light of Elune in the same manner as his KO rolls heh. I wish him the best of luck in the remainder of the tournament. I leave with this advice to my more than worhty opponent...gotta get those guys some new shoes.”
