As the girls lined up on the pitch, they looked across at their vicious opponents. Mort Avaritia - the most brutal team (certainly of recent times) in the SWL. A win this week was all important, at any cost.
Mort received in the first half, but had trouble knocking the girls down, let along hurting them. When we saw the opportunity to get a numerical advantage by sending a couple of players our to meet their avid fans, we took it. From there, the girls were able to make their way through for a touchdown in turn 8, and barely a scratch on them. Certainly a more successful half than we ever would have dared to hope for.
Half time score: 1-0
The chaos team made a much more successful start to the second half. This time it was their turn to take the numerical advantage, despite continued poor luck with attempts to break armour. Possibly the most remarkable moment in the match came when Grimwade pulled out the POW he needed, knocking down two players, but still failing to break armour! Luck was definitely on our side.
Even so, there were a number of close calls, and it took everything we had to keep the chaos from capitalising when the ball came free.
Final score: 1-0

3 pt: HC ‘Nugget’ Coombs
Solid player all match. Took down the ball carrier in the second half, giving Mort a good shot at a tie.
2 pts: John Phillips
First cas of the match. Put pressure on the ball carrier until a fireball stopped him in his tracks.
1 pt: Geoffrey Grimwade
Purely for scaring the hell out of us. It was probably his worst match in a long time, and that's about the only thing that kept our team intact.”
