“In the Battle Baker's debut game, they squared off against a powerful and potent Ogre squad from Grand Et Fort. The game began with the Bakers electing to receive, but their inexperience began to show early when they quickly gave up the ball to the Fort ogres. More over two of the dwarves' position players were knocked out early and never regained consciousness.
Only by the grace of Nuffle did an early Ogre attempt at a TD fail, when upon launching one of their gobbo ball carriers, an overzealous ogre threw the greenskin entirely too high, and the resulting impact knocked the ball from its grasp. The dwarf team co-captain, Sarge, picked up the ball and managed to fight off two ogres in by himself in the dying seconds of the first half to keep the score tied at nil.
The second half took a darker turn when midway through it, rookie Longbeard Porter "Carbo" Breadslicer fell over his own feet while attempting to dodge an opponent (a rare dwarf move to be sure) and ended up falling face first into a fan thrown bear trap. Porter will be dearly missed by his team.
Another Grand Et Fort drive looked to be in great form when the gobbos suddenly managed to drop the ball again, allowing Sarge to once again swoop in and take the ball for himself. Some hard trench fighting by dwarven blockers kept the Orges off of Sarge's trail long enough for the Dwarf to rush 24 squares to complete the lone TD of the game on Turn 7 of the 2nd Half.
To add insult to injury, Gobbo Joe-Love managed to kill himself on the ensuing kick off, while the team attempted to get in some last minute parting shots.
Truly an exciting, if bittersweet, exhibition match. ”
