“And so the Greenleafs, who had spent the previous week training for their match against the Dark Elves, took to the pitch against the undefeated Dwarf squad Stonewall BBC. With 11 players vs 13, and a TS difference of 24, it seemed the Greenleafs had their work cut out for them.
Things started out well enough in the first half as Kootenay Kola, the team's new catcher, scored a TD at the midpoint of the half. It seemed the Greenleafs would have liked to stall their drive a bit longer but the Dwarves were pressing in and scoring seemed to be the safe move. The elves blitzed on the ensuing kick off and were able to keep the Stonewallers from countering with a score of their own.
The second half didn't go so well as the Dwarves started pummeling the Greenleafs relentlessly. The Dwarven Runner also showed amazing dexterity and resiliency on route to scoring the equalizer near the end of the half. Not only did the Runner emerge unscathed from several blitz attempts by strip balling captain Maui Wowie, but he rubbed some salt in the Greenleafs wounds by dodging through not 1 but 2 tackle zones on 2 separate occasions! This was particularly infuriating for the Greenleafs as they were failing multiple dodge/leap attempts into no tackle zones!. By the time the Stonewall's drive ended, 4 elves were badly hurt, 2 were KO'd and 1 had been saved from visiting the great tree of life by the team's apo. Vastly outnumbered, the Greenleafs still had 2 turns in which to secure the victory. But these hopes were soon crushed when yet another 1 was rolled on the QB's pick up ball attempt, of course in no TZs.
Final score 1-1. Tune in next week when we get to do it all over again with the shambling undead.”
