Atlatl looked to be at a major disadvantage going in to this one folks. The individual team strength advantage of the lizard big 7 was nearly matched by the big 5 of the orcs and with 5 guards, the orcs looked to be strong enough to bash the lizards into submission. For this reason the Falchion attempted to pull out a last minute Game Plan (GP) and offered a 7 vs. 7 no replace match to the Hackers. The hackers knowing that this would put them at a disadvantage in speed and not be able to take advantage of their team strength used a brilliant Game Plan (GP) of their own to counter the lizards. The match would be played as nuffle intended.
Atlatl gritted their fangs and prepared for what they expected to be a brutal match. Winning the coinflip the Falchions elected to recieve and hoped to dish out enough pain to make the orcs keep back from the bashfest the lizards feared. An orc stumbled in the initial melee and was quickly dispatched to his sideline from a late hit. On their next action a rumbling saurus tagged one of the orcs blitzers holding in the backfield for a crushing blow that would keep him out of action for the rest of the match. The orcs were quick to retaliate and a skink was also escorted to his sideline to recover. Atlatl had the ball in the hands of their lone remaining skink Tham'os Br'un but was unable to move more than a few steps from their enzone line playing a cat and mouse game with a Hackers BOB that was keeping him pinned deep in his own territory while the general scrum worked itself out at midfield. Neither side was able to put together a finishing series of blocks to establish dominance for most of the 1st half. Green Slay'n defenders thought they saw a chance to trap the lone skink in the backfield without any support and moved a couple more orcs in to support the slow moving BOB that was keeping him trapped. With a couple of crucial blocks the Falchions were able to clear a tiny space for Tham'os, which is all a skink needs. He scampered into the hole made and was protected enought to keep any of the orcs from tagging him. He snuck into the endzone most of the way through the 2nd quarter. Green Slay'n set up for a Gobbo toss but was denied the chance by a lucky kick by the lizards, but this turn could spell the end for the Falchions in this game. The orcs took to their usual enjoyment of battling and took it out on the sizeable lizardman LOS. Ajax the Hawkslayer delivered a punishing blow to the lizards star saurus which would keep him out for the rest of the match. For the 2nd half the Hackers would have a 11-7 advantage and would have as much individual strength on the pitch as the lizards.
Falchion 1-0 Green Slay'n at the half
Green Slay'n recieved the ball in the 2nd half and was able to make easy work of the Falchions defense. Bubba Frankfurter quickly walked the ball into the endzone to tie up the match in just a few short efficient plays. They saw their advantage and planned to take advantage of their superior numbers and strength. They quickly kicked off to the reeling Falchions, and looked to have them stymied with a perfect defense. The Falchions took one look at the orcs and knew they had only one chance to get out of this match their team intact. To score so quickly the orcs would have to put all of their focus on trying to rush a TD effort for the tie. The Falchions were able to pick a couple key blocks and were ablt to put their oversized saurus bodies in the way of the pursuit happy orcs. Tham'os scooped up the kickoff that dropped right in front of him and made his way quickly into orcs territory right behind his saurus blockers. The orcs tried to break through but the lizards were able to keep them from knocking Tham'os down. He scampered in for the Falchions 2nd TD putting them up 2-1 at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. Green Slay'n had enough time left to put together a solid drive and tie the match, but Bubba who had scored the Hackers 1st TD was showing signs of aging on the pitch (confirmed after the match, his muscles were changing on him and he is likely going to have issues dealing with his changes in the future, some suspect Nuffle is friends with the Gods of Chaos and wanted to play tricks on the Hackers). Bubba was unable to hang on to the ball in several attempts. With the ball left open Tham'os darted in with lightning speed and layed quick claim to the ball within striking distance of the Hackers goal line again. The Hackers were not going to let the Falchions skink take in another TD and promplty layed him out flat on the pitch for the rest of the match. Bubba had a couple more chances to hold onto the ball, but was still unable to get a hold on it. (Onlookers said that Tham'os had a can of 'SLIPPERY GIT' gel that he poured over the ball when he was about to be hit.) The Hackers apothecary was called out to the pitch in the closing minutes as the Hackers player seemed to forget how to block. He quickly reset the broken leg and was bashed into unconscoiusness by his orc client. A few bashes later and the game finished with a hearty handshake at midfield, a suprise after such a violent clash.
Final Falchions win 2-1 over Green Slay'n
Falchions improve to 4-0-4 and face Arizona next.
Green Slay'n falls to 4-1-3 and face St. Louis next.
Great match Flash, well played, we had a lot of good (read lucky) hits at just the right time to open the opportunities for those TDs. And just as bad your goblin unable to hold the ball with rerolls 2x at the end prevented the tie. We hope we can finish the season well enough to see you again in the NFC playoffs.”
