#1 Gunnvaldr – Dead (RIP) #3 Þjóðrekr – Dead (RIP)
“A brutally violent game. An apo'd serious injury followed by a fatal foul in turn two made the Norse boys think this was going to be their lucky day against the greenskins. But their dp Víghvatr was sent off for that first boot to the head, and to rub it in Da Eadchoppas Durg Durmstrang went on to wreak havoc, killing star blitzer Þjóðrekr (twice!) and the big Ogre Gunnvaldr. A glorious haul indeed.
The fans were undoubtably left happy after all the bloodshed, but for the purists out there who are concerned about the result, Coach Smyth had the chance to run in a score late in the first half after receiving the kick, but tried to stall out the clock a little to long and was rightly punished with a turnover.
The second half saw the Orcs slowed down by a desperate Norse defence going for a series of dodges and risky blocks which knocked the ball loose on several occasions, but the greenskins were never really in trouble. But late in the half the Norse boys manged to mark up the ball carrier, and when Durmstrang threw a block but go knocked over himself, the Jockstrap players saw their chance. The ball was popped loose and Úlfvarinn jumped up, dodged away, moved back in to pick up the ball in a TZ, then dodged away again to make for the line. The fans went wild as it looked like he could run in for a score in the final second. But Eruk Redeye smashed away his marker to put a TZ on the blitzer. Úlfvarinn decided to try and blitz himself free rather than dodge again, but his previous exertions proved too much and he ended up face down in the turf as the Orc threw out a stiff arm and clothelined him to the ground.
Funny game all round vs a really cool coach. Don't think I deserved the draw as my play at the end of the first half was ridiculously stupid and I only really stayed in it in the second thanks to some good dice. On to the rebuilding process after another splatterfest! :D
Cheers for the game Asgovic, will catch you for the rematch sometime!”
