“Well, this season started with a BANG!
Unfortunately, the bang was for the other team.
A 0-2 loss means the Lizzies are already behind on the attempt to better their TD's against performance of last season.
The game started well, newly promoted Vice-captain ohu` causing an early casualty, before fouling and killing star blitzer Ketill Jr, but for the intervention of the apothecary. Adding insult to injury, the offending skink was subsequently sent off for the rest of the game...
Despite this, and with the aid of a number of lucky KO's, the Lizzies were in a good position to put up an early point, until, perhaps feeling overly confident, the coach signalled from the sideline for the team to stall...
The Bezerkers wasted no time in jumping on the opportunity, KO'ing the ballcarrier and scooping up the ball. There followed a number of turns of fumbling, and it was only by virtue of desperation plays and a lot of luck that the Norse didn't steal a Touchdown.
Second half saw both teams back to a full 11, and the Bezerkers began to crack the armour of the Lizzies, which certainly aided them in putting first points on the board with an easy turn 3 touchdown. Looking for at least a draw, the Lizzies decided to try a slow drive down the pitch, but with four players off the pitch, it was always going to be a struggle. The Bezerkers took advantage of the weakened defense, and used their numbers to send even more reptiles off the pitch, before easily nabbing the ball and running away for a 0-2 scoreline with two turns to go. A sub-par effort in the dying turns saw the Lizzies unable to score even a consolation TD...
Twahnlows:
3pts - #2 Ketill Jr: The timely intervention of the apothecary meant this player stayed on the pitch, whereupon he more or less dictated the pace of the game. Hard to put down, but able to take down lizards with ease. The lynchpin of this team.
2pts - #6 Two-left Feet: A general nuisance to put down, and scored the first point.
1pts - #5 Came on in the second half to help dictate the terms of the match to the Lizzies.
Not a great way to start the season, but a good game nonetheless, and I really only have myself to blame for not putting any points on the board. Well played BloodReaper - we shall meet again!”
