“A whole team named after characters from Escaflowne. How cool is that?
This was a good close match. I thought he had me a few times. The elves were uncharacteristically struggling on offense. I kicked off to start, recovered the ball shortly afterwards and scored around turn 4 in the first half. Then I kicked again and he started the long slow march down the field. Fortunately, I managed to slow him down enough. Halftime score: 1-0.
The second started off with me receiving and a disastrous turn 1. He snuck a blitzer into my backfield who went on to recover the ball after a abysmal turn and score on turn 3 or so. I received and he almost pulled a repeat performance. I had only 7 men on the field and he kicked into a beautiful spot. With my throwers too far back (oops), I threw a couple of blocks and ran my Lion Warrior all the way across the field to pitch it back to a PW. Of course the pass went wawy wide and he managed to put 2 men on the ball, but not pick it up. Thanks to a lucky blitz, I got a1 of them off and then managed to pick up the ball and hand off into a nice safe pocket. Then it was a simple matter of running the LW across to a lineman on the sideline and putting some DWs in the way so he could coast in for the TD. I managed to stall a turn to keep the game out of reach.
Well played by Stampe. It could have gone either way at the end. Thanks again for the match.”
