NY hosted the Falchions in what many expected to be a brutal battle on the NBFL turf. Both teams needed a win to stay in the playoff hunt. Atlatl won the coin toss and elected to defer. Phil Slims quickly made the lizards rethink giving away the ball to start the game badly hurting one of their big line saurus. J'stin Pele was quick to retailate for his fallen comrad and KO'd Mark Bizzaro the Not-so-Giants other slayer. The ref established that he was going to have a clean game and picked J'stin up by his tail and personally booted him off the pitch. Atlatl looked like they had a shot to knock the ball free in the 1st quarter but failed, it looked like coordination and conditioning is not the strong suit of the Falchions big guys. Tiny Barber broke free with about a quarter left to play in the 1st half. He slowed up at about the 15 yard line and was promptly hit and downed by Atlatl. The Falchions skinks ever ready for a loose ball jumped in and scooped it up sending the ball up to midfield. NY quickly found itself out of position for defense and their attempts to tie up the ball were quickly brushed off. Tham'os Br'un darted down field and walked into the endzone as the halftime cannon fired.
Atlatl 1 - 0 NY at the half.
Atlatl now had the ball and was content to sit back on their side of the pitch to see what would develop. The ref again removed another skink from the pitch by force maintaining a clean game. The dwarfs were slowly but surely flanking the big 6 which were quickly 5 of the Falchions and looked to have the skinks and the ball they carried trapped deep in their own territory. Atlatl darted forward and tried a risky handoff at midfield. The ball hit the turf and NY quickly attempted to surround and pick the ball up. Their short fingers prevented a pickup in traffic. Atlatl was able to clearn some space around the ball and again a skink darted in and took off upfield with the ball. The Not-so-Giants were able to put a body on the ballcarrier but poor conditioning and short legs left him too tired to do more than stand next to the ballcarrier once he got there. Phil Slims was badly hurt during a midfield scuffle but was seen throwing a few kegs back after the game and is expected to suffer no long term effects. Altalt waltzed in for a 2nd touchdown confident that the slow dwarfs would be unable to tie the game with less than a quarter of the match left. Lawrence Crimes layed a brutal hit that looked like it killed one of Atlatls big saurs. The Falchions apoth trotted out, looked over the massive scaled body, tapped and poked and prodded, then proceeded to apply an electric eel headwrap. 'He said that he has to do this in practice sometimes as the brains of the big saurs are likely to need occasional jump starts and wasnt even the worst injury he had seen this week.' Amani "It's not a" Toomer II was able to put the ball into the endzone to finish the match.
Atlatl 2 - 1 NY
Atlatl improves to 8-1-4 and travels to Washington next week, still 1 point ahead of St. Louis for the last NFC playoff spot.
NY drops to 4-3-6 and hosts Minnesnowta after a BYE week. NY will be looking forward to next year as their playoff hopes for this year have evaporated.
Excellent match Zoe. Things changed soo quickly soo many times this game. Enjoyed the match.”
