“This was a game of two halves. Gostdur Reivers took the kick and found themselves up against a veritable wall of fury from Anubis's Lackies, as the four Khemrian mummies manoeuvred deep into the Norse ranks to force holes and drive deep into Gostdur's half. Early blitzes from Nemo Ilder and Galfur Gren saw them both taken of the pitch nursing wounds, and quickly the Lackies built up a defensive cordon around the ball and began their inevitable march to the touch line.

Here the Norse game picked up a little, and despite some bad luck from both sides and sloppy play from the Reivers, in the final minutes of the half the Lackies were forced off the ball.

Receiving in the second half, Gostdur tried to make something of their starting assault, but it quickly began to fumble after further injuries and knockouts. Anubis's Lackies swept in at Feld, Loki and Geldi to encircle them, and a break from Loki was shut down. Then all hell broke loose in centre field - Loki's free ball tumbled into the mass of players and the second half became a bloodbath, players angling to get one up on each other and scrambling madly for the ball. The Khemrian skeletons lived up to their poor ball-handling reputation, but defended long enough that the embattled Reivers, down to only 6 men, could steal the ball, but make nothing of it.

A fantastically tense game, played with verve and pace. ”
