#8 Tarragon – Serious Concussion (-AV)
A hard fought match, with the result decided by the flip of a coin after extra time!

Initially, and to their shame, the orcs had a hard time of it against the hobbits. Gratuitous dodgy, fouling, and evil treemen conspired to send 4 orcs off the pitch versus only 2 hobbits off.

Once both big guys had taken root, things got easier - and in a fit of generosity, the Orcs decided against stalling to CAS the remaining halflings. This was nearly a game-losing mistake...

1-0 up, the Orcs gaped in disbelief at the restart as a flukey TTM equalised the game. Grrr.

The second half saw the ever elusive hobbits grinding up the pitch for a turn 6 touchdown, only have victory snatched away by some astonishing orcish elfball in the final turn! 2-2.

Extra time, and take root again foiled the hobbits ambitions. Bereft of cover at a key moment, and with their stunning dodging skills finally abandoning them, the pitch was almost cleared of the little guys. Only poor ball handling prevented the Orcs getting that crucial third TD.

A gripping and tense game - thanks Nazgob! Now onward - to the next round...

A polite rebuttal from the head coach:

"We never foul a player. It's against our nature. Although the boys do enjoy it when they can hit someone thats come down to their level. Its just their nature."

***

The first half was pretty much as arghh described it, and i have to admit that my dodging was particularly skillful. Those orcs just couldn't get a hold of the flings.

That said, when they finally did grab hold, they squeezed, and squeezed hard. A total of 6 casualties in OT if I remember right, as well as a string of KOs.

Man, or rather men of the match for me were the two treemen. They held the line with style and grace, only stumbling once, and even then, the tree in question got straight back up. Entertainingly, the orcs were terrified of them, always dodging away and falling flat on their backs in terror!

If I had to pick a turning point, it would be turn 16. I had blitzed a tree into the orc cage the turn before, and their escape was well blocked by most of the flings. But that elfball was truly stunning. Damn those short legs - if my fling had made that interception, it would have been a very different ending: 2-1 to the Pudstickers.

Great opponent, tense match and lots of fun. Good luck in the next round. (all those SPP should come in handy.
