“Wood elves? More like a skaven team with lots of Claws and MB. This was a bit of a recovery game for the woodies: dodge around, score quick, try to live. Well, that was the plan anyway. The way it turned out was: Pow!, Crunch!, Blammo! and with a fair amount of struggling moving the ball.
I started out the game with 9 players against a full lizard team. In relatively short order some crazy injury dice had me up 9 to 8 on the pitch. Unlike many lizard game where it's a slow attrition of skinks, I actually manage to cas 3 sauruses over the course of the game, and a Frenzy-saurus and a AG2-saurus spent most of the game in the BH box.
The lizard toolkit included an AG4/SS skink. Many teams would have had a lot of trouble with the little scamp, and while he was a pain to deal with, my woodies fortunately had the tools to deal with him, especially my Tackle/SB/Frenzy wardancer.
The game came down to the final couple plays. Late in the second half, I was up 1-0 and scrambling to defend after failing a GFI to score led to the lizards recovering and taking it across the field. After taking it away from the lizards again, I failed another GFI trying to pass downfield. The lizards make a last attempt at it, but in the end, on the final play of the game for my side, a retrieved the ball from a tackle zone and completed a short pass (into another TZ) and dodged away to score, 2-0.
On the final turn of the game, my tree was badly hurt :)
GG Kelkka, it was a fun one.”
