This match was not the first time the Dutch Disciples faced the White Isle Dodgers. Being promoted to the Albany Regional Divison at the same time the two teams were familiar from their training days in the WIL Fringe.
With the team in good shape and a winning record against this team coach Bascrebolder had good hopes for this match. When the ball was kicked off by the dwarves things all of a sudden looked different however. The elves were quick to recover the ball and made some amazingly flashy plays that carved through the dwarven lines as if they were non-existent. Coach Bas became increasingly worried as the elves kept dodging and sprinting through his lines and effortlessly passed the ball to a catcher who carelessly and bravely caught the accurate pass while being guarded by a dwarf. The dwarf however had tricked the cocky elf and let him catch the ball on purpose... only to tackle the hapless catcher when he tried to dodge away for a certain touchdown.
Hendrik-Pieter recovered the ball with some dificulty and was able to sprint to the safety of some friendly blockers by the middle of the first half. Up till than the elfish armour had held out remarkably well but from that point on the elven numbers started to dwindle slowly but surely and the Diciples were able to score late in the first half.
Things didn’t look well for the Dodgers at the start of the second half and when none of their three KO’s returned their chances of stopping the dwarven offense were slim. When after the inevitable TD their now 6 KO’s all refused to take to the field again the match was over and the Disciples were able to score a third time. This nicely trained up the blocker Joost who played his maiden match...
