“It was a lovely day at Diggly field, and the fans turned out in droves to watch the Industrial Diggers host Green Mean Joe's RB's! With some heavy hitters on both sides this was likely to be a rough game, and the players didn't disappoint.

The Orcs chose to take the ball in the first half and laid into the front line of the Chaos Dwarves, but they just weren't laying down the hurt. Those Dwarves are tough! The Orcs bunched up and started a drive, but the Diggers' Bull Centaurs were not to be denied, and a quick blitz by Caterpillar put the ball back in their hands.

That's when the hard hits started, and more Orcs than usual were carried off the field. Beween that and the line being so tied up the Joes couldn't get free to stop the Diggers' drive. That nasty rascal Loess took this opportunity to dance on the goal line, taunting the Orcs for almost a bit too long before finally running across. There wasn't enough left of the first half for the RBs to respond in kind, and on the last play a terrible blow from Mahindra left nothing but broken bits where their goblin used to be. We'll miss Bench Warmer's antics in the dugout!

The second half had the Industrial Diggers receiving, and in a mirror of the first half, their own drive was stopped by a timely blitz from Steve Slay Ya. Marl, the Elven Hob, had his arm fractured on the play, but it looks like he'll be okay after a few days' rest. The Green Mean Orcs took full advantage of his absence and ran in for a TD, tying it at 1 with only two minutes to play!

The Diggers were undaunted, though, and received the kickoff with blood in their eyes. They laid the front line out, clearing a nice path for the Bull Centaurs... then Loess dropped the ball! With only a few seconds left the fans were starting to grumble about settling for a tie, but Loess swore mightily and scrambled to pick the ball back up. He finally got hold of it and handed it off to Loam, who ran forward and frantically threw it to Mahindra, who was waiting in the end zone. There was a long, tense moment as the whole field watched the ball sail, expecting the typically clumsy hands of the Bull to drop it... but amazingly, it was caught, and the game was all over but the shoving.

In the end fortune favored the Diggers, and they won 2-1.
