Truly an ignominious defeat for the Dire Maul Brutes. Not only were they defeated by halflings, but they totally failed to inflict any of the vicious casualties for which they are known.

With the aid of the mighty "halfling box" manoeuvre, the brave Arthurians managed to knock down several ogres, even knocking one out with a well-placed foul.

Atur, one of the team's two tree-men, received VIP, perhaps in honour of the foul he managed against an ogre. Even though the ogre was unharmed, it was still an impressive achievement.

The first of the 'flings' two touchdowns was fairly standard fare, with the brave Meliant dodging through TZs and past goblin defenders to reach the line. The second, in the very last turn of the second half, was an almost unheard of successful very-long-range pass by a treeman, allowing Gauvain to trot calmly past the ogres--who had all run away from the halflings in fear for their lives from the "halfling box"--and break the expected tied result.

However, despite their cowardice at the end of the second half, the ogres did manage an impressive feat. Doublehead managed to pick up the ball all by himself and run it all the way across the field to score. Word on the street is that he was rewarded with a colourful butterfly cookie for his job well done.
