“The Pocket Dragons came out a bit slow today, spending a lot of time checking out their surroundings. But seeing one of theirs fouled, they roared back. Tearing into their opponents, they killed one, then seriously wounded another before grabbing the ball and running for a touchdown.
Their bloodlust satisfied for the moment, Komodo and Heloderma took the next few plays off to sun themselves, leaving the skinks badly outnumbered and leaving Chalarodon unprotected. He was quickly stomped on and sent off the field. Several other players on both sides were knocked senseless and carried off as well during the following rounds, which were more a bashfest than a ball game.
The second half saw both teams lined up with only 8 players on each side, but that wasn't to be the end of the carnage. The Dragons went quickly on the offensive, counting on the Herders to be too busy chasing the ball carrier to defend themselves. All the action on the field reduced to a small area in the middle with elbows and claws flying as the body count rose. By the time the melee was finished, only 2 Herders stood on the field, one trying to bravely face down the 3 remaining skinks, and the other prancing up and down the end zone looking for the right time to score. Luckily for the lone Herder, the ball carrier stepped in and ended the game in a tie.
The Dragons then slinked off to the sidelines to enjoy the rest of the sun.
While the coach had to replace Basiliscus, he was very pleased overall with the performance of his scaly friends. ”
