“Naffle Season, Yanks, Rd 5: The Slayers were the fortunate recipients of yet another understrength opponent. The Finest could only field 10 players, but with TWO dps they liked their chances to break a few bones.
The Slayers won the toss and chose to kickoff. The Dark Elves quickly showed their mettle by knocking down the Khemri front line and surrounding a mummy. The dp swooped in and knocked him out, but the ref was on his game and ejected him.
The Slayers pushed upfield, slowly squeezing the elf team back, but unable to make a play on the carefully protected ball. The elf agility was in full display and they limited the Slayers to pretty much one hit a turn.
Despite that the team laid the lumber and injured a number of elves, none too seriously though. Then the elves used some nice manuevering to isolate, surround and gang foul a second mummy who pushed too far forward. Another KO, another ejection!
Between ejections, injuries and a cautious Khemri team the Finest were unable to break thru and the half ended 0-0.
The Slayers received the ball in the second with a significant player advantage and just laid into the unlucky elves that were left. Osorus booted one elf off the field, and Amun-tep had a good match with two casualties of his own. The Slayers even displayed some inspired ball handling and completed the teams first ever pass, elevating both the Doom Scarab and Bhekur to Experienced status. Game ended 1-0 with the lone remaining Dark Elf, Edeut Falconcaster, completely surrounded by remoresless Slayers (which was the only way I could prevent him from hitting my Skeletons!)”
