"Well I sure tried!"

In the 1st round of OCCS' Middenheim Challenge, my recovering Greenfurs and me had one big challenge ahead of us. Barash, who I found to be a great player in every way, and 13 little beardy men skilled to the teeth.

So I got a good handicap and started with the ball, but in my rustyness and newbieness I made a turnover on my very first move. For my trouble, my handicap-boosted player got BHed. But I still managed to get the ball and send the GRs deep in in my turn, and then pass to one of them for a 3rd turn TD. Well I'm leading 1-0, that's still a good start :)

However there was no way I could stall against him and his team, so he had plenty of time left to slowly advance through my troops and break through, ending the half with a TD.

And in the 2nd half it was going to be the same thing again. And I was starting to lose a few players to normal blocks (how did he go 2/4/2 on CAS???). I tried a few stunts here and there, but in the end he still went through. And he stopped doing blocks that weren't necessary, seeing my team was beginning to be very crippled.

Bad Idea.
Next thing you know, I take my M10 GR at the line and make 5 dodges or so to end up right next to his zone, unreachable. Of course I couldn't stall, but I did manage to tie the game with 2 turns left.

Contnuing in miracle-in-progress, I get the Blitz result and have just enough movement to land a GR under the ball, and he catches it! I do my best to prevent him from scoring, but with no awful rolls he did manage to slip by a few rats and score as the game ended. I could have tried a 1-turner, but I'm no good at them and got a skull to start anyway.

Maybe this team is due to retirement, but at least I had a great game and ave Barash a run for his money.

I dont like destroying teams, but all the armor and injury dice were against the Skavens. Duke Rules were not able to stop the Skavens from scoring (The 2 lightning fast Skaven touchdowns were unstoppable), but a last desperite effort in the 8th turn the Dukes managed to score in 2 turns against 5 remaining skavens.

Im glad it doesnt seem that this game retired the Greenfurs.

I respect Skavenguy a lot, dispite the bad dice and injuries he had a remarkable good spirit and I believe we both had fun the whole game.
Maybe next time a skaven vs elf game, Skavenguy? :)
