“With 4 MNG and a tournament about to begin, I badly needed a recovery game. At least a game anyway, to get rid of MNG! I could only field 9 players, but at least most of them had a skill and I had 2 gutters, so I stil could fight.

Thinking I might start lacking players by the end, I figured I should start with the ball. I blitzed with my RO, creating the small opening I needed and stormed through his zone with the ball. But I forgot a standing elf and BHed a liner while trying to dodge by mistake. I still easily managed to score.

As soon as he got the ball, he sent his catcher forward with the ball. But he didn't give him good protection and I blitzed him down and a GR luckly got the ball. He completely surrounded him, but lucky for me in a re-rolled 3Dblock he didn't get a single pow. I made myself an opening, managed a few dodges and passed into the end zone. 2-0 after 5 turns, this was going much better than I expected.

My luck continued : he got the ball, but his catcher at the very end of his line rolled snake eyes to catch it. I passed to my gutter on the other side and even though he got surrounded by the sidelines, he scored just before half-time.

When 2nd half started, we got Pitch Invasion. 4 of my 8 players got stunned, including my 3 "back-protector" players. By some miracle my RO alone stopped him from scoring twice and I BHed one of his liners, but he still ended up scoring.

It was his time to kick now! Surprisingly my LOS stormvermin caught the ball, but despite some protection he got knocked off. But his ball carrier failed a dodge on his way out. I knocked some players aside and with some luck managed to get a GR to just make it to the end zone with the ball. 4-1 for me.

When he got the ball he came in my zone with a few players, ad I was able to knock him down. After much scuffling for the ball, he left off with it. He ended up scoring just before the game ended.

Still, a very fun and surprising game, and my team is now ready to participate in a tournament (plus, luckily enough, I got just enough SPs to get a few skills in).”
