“ There were reports in the FUMBBL world that some sneaky skavens were tampering with the major format concerning OT. I'll get back to this in a bit.
I received reports that some of the referee's were on strike but since there was a major they would only take care of the match for regular time and flip a coin, hoping they would be able to get away with their lives from some of the disgruntled players.
The first match to find out about the referee's decision was a skaven vs dwarf match. Surprisingly the skaven team laid a beating on the dwarves and were content to bring the game into OT for some possible SPP farming. SURPRISE!!! A coin was flipped, the fans were shocked the Skavens were dumbfounded... the ref's and the Dwarves ran out of the stadium as the announcers started to read out the official report thatthe dwarves were advancing.
Panic hit the FUMBBL community as the IRC was filled with questions and speculations about the OT events...
An official word was put out to the tourney participants that there would be investigation ASAP and that if both teams agreed to play on without the OT, they would be welcome to do so and any participants who wanted to wait for official word and action were welcome to do that as well.
Getting back to my initial comment about some rats... it was discovered that it was actually the hefty bank accounts of a group of dwarven mob bosses that had lined the Referee's pockets to spring this strike if things weren't boding for the dwarves, whcih was an easy bait for the already underpaid and over beaten referee's (especially all of the GTR kickoffs from the Fumble Cup).
Since then PC and Christer have made sure that the referee's were well paid and assigned a personal apothecary to ensure coverage for OT... This may explain the poor apothecary rolls that have been going on to heal the players.
Catalyst and myself waited for the strike by the referee's to end to play our match...
...The THRILL of entering a major
...The excitement of standing infront of many fans to have them cheer, boo and taunt words of, "ohhhhhhh that's got to hurt!!"
Both teams were within 10 points of TR when the match was drawn.
-Catalyst had 150K and a Troll that had a niggle that he would end up firing before the match began to get a handi roll...IronMan, which he gave to his DP thrower, which surprised everyone. Catalyst ended up buying a Wiz and Morg...Solid gameplan.
-I bought a wiz and hired a freebooter to feed his orcs as LOS fodder, even though he was KO early and for a good part of the match.
The beginning of the match saw the orcs receiving the ball wth the kick placed close to the LOS. I used my wiz early to attempt to get infront and stay infront. I got lucky to get the ball secured and moved well out of Orc reach and to throw a boot to my biggest threat.. an AG4 blodge/MB/Tackle Blitzer which only caused a stun and was the beginning of some minor trash talk to attempt to razz my opponent.
The jeering seemed to have worked since the following turn my opponent took his Ironman/DP thrower and fouled my player. I have to say thatit was 'Teh Awesome' to see his player ejected.
I stalled some, Morg niggled my now retired ST4/-AG lino and Catalyst seemed to forget he had a suitable blitzer to punish my players.
I continued to taunt my opponent throughout the match and even throw some shots at the fans, explaining that i was jealous that other coaches received far more boo's than i did...it worked as i receiced my very first boo wave...SWEET!
After the match Catalyst and myself stayed in the game and chatted for a good 20 minutes or so. I am sure that i didnt really get to him despite my efforts and maybe even childish comments. Catalyst is a good coach who is great conversation who i recommend for anyone to play, especially if they enjoy the social part of the game...He doesnt even complain too much when the expected turn or three of dicing is distributed by the game.
Catalyst is convinced he will get a lottery draw, which i hope he does cause i wouldnt mind playing him again.
Thanks for the good sport and fun Catalyst.”
