This was my first actual game in the Middenheim Challenge as my first two opponents forfeited. I was worried that my team's lack of any playtime would make them rusty. However, judging by the other games this month, it's been a rough go for many teams so I was not any worse off than teams that had played. I guess I should be happy I had 11 players, though I was worried about Yog-Sothoth's niggling injury acting up. Fortunately it didn't.
This game was pretty close the entire way. I kicked off to the Keepers and the teams proceeded to slug away at one another. The Enforcer made a break for the endzone along the sidelines, but I was able to blitz the ball free and got a good bounce. With both of us scrambling to cover it and time running out, I was able to push the ball free with a timely blitz, pick it up and handoff to Azathoth. That was to be the game's only score. In the 2nd half, I received the kickoff and it went out of bounds. I handed it to The King in Yellow and proceeded to grind down the field. I tried to keep a cage formed, but the Keepers kept collapsing it, and finally managed to knock the ball loose with a 1-die blitz. They failed to pick it up, so I was able to recover. I then made my move, sending 2 ghouls towards the endzone and Ghatanothoa passed to Glaaki. The Lord of Dead Dreams was dreaming of TDs, but it was not to be as a beastman blitzed the ball loose. After that, neither team was able to recover and time expired with the Dreamers covering all possible receivers on the Keepers to prevent any late game heroics.
The gate was excellent and the Dreamers will be hiring a new mummy before facing Underhide Creepers in the semifinals. Too bad Yog-Sothoth got the VP, but it's not like I can afford to fire him anytime soon.”
