“Antipodal Regional Shield 02/10 - first round
--------------------------------------------------------------
After the stinging loss in the semi-final of the Middenheim Challenge last month the Isengaard Desolates suffered from poor morale. The loss had been unbelievable. Pitch invasions that took out the whole team, blitzes and all kinds of harsh effects. But they still pulled their team together and applied for the Antipodal Regional Shield.
The match started well with a blitz on the opponents kick-off, but then it switched around to what looked like another cursed match. The first 10 succesful blocks or so all broke AV, knocking out or stunning the greenskins all over the pitch. Despite that the Desolates fought back and looked sure to be able to run in a TD...and again disaster struck. A bad pick-up resulted in a crazy scatter over the opponents defensive line and into the hands of a dodging wight. Fortunately the wight was so surprised by what happened that he ran straight into an opponent and crippled himself badly. From that the Desolates could recover and run in a T8 TD.
In the 2nd half the undead looked demotivated, so the Desolates could without little opposition run in another TD. After that the Corpus Nexus got their act together though. While the team was crippled the individual brilliance of a few true characters shone through. The hard hitting skeleton Ty Bones, the indestructable Samael Hound of Ressurection and the unstoppable Lardo The Exhumer, who despite lacking any notable talents dodges his way through what looked like impossible defenses to run in a comfort TD.
The Corpus Nexus future it at risk, but many fans would hope that they continue.
Thanks for the match, Araz!”
