“Middenheim Challenge 02/10 - round 3 Semi-final

A tough match, both coaches hired wizards to boost their chances. I opted to kick first, hoping to either prevent the score for 8 turns or use the wizard to knock the ball free. I got the ball free, but a bad bounce landed it back in the hands of a CD. I was able to prevent the score with only 1 BH and 1 KO, and I got the KO back 2nd half.

2nd half saw a Bad Kick and I handed it right to Ruby Red. Then I hunkered in to wait for an opening and in anticipation of the opponent's wizard. Neither the wizard nor the opening ever materialized. We took turns knocking each other down until he started scoring some BHs. I let those pass, holding onto my apo. Then he scored a SI mng, niggle and I decided to call the apothecary into action. Unfortunately, my apo was scared of the Ruthless and Divine because she couldn't do anything to save Topaz Tina. Fortunately I didn't need to call on her again, but now I was desperate. My last chance at scoring came when Lucy Lapis lazuli broke free and headed for the end zone. Ruby Red dodged away from a Bull Centaur and made 2 GFIs, but used a reroll somewhere along the way. It was a Long Bomb, but all I really cared about was not fumbling the ball. Naturally, I fumbled the ball. It took several tries, but Volcanus I finally managed to pick up the ball and made it into the endzone on turn 8, having made 3 gfis (2 in 7, 1 in 8) to get there.

An exciting game came to an end and the Precious Gems took their 2nd loss. Also, this is the first game in 9 chances that they have not gotten +1 FF. 8 straight +FF is definitely a feat worth mentioning.
