“Bugmans North Challenge February '10 KO TR 151-200 Final
A very bloody game. I forgot to fire a coach before the match and gave up a handicap - Get the Ref 2! Not sure if it really mattered, as his first few fouls were going unnoticed anyway. By the time he failed an IGMEOY roll, he didn't do anything more than BH from then on. Still, it was an oversight on my part that could have cost me the game. And just to add salt to the wound, his first foul CAS was RIP, so I tried to use my apothecary to save Hyglak Quarrelstarter. Unfortunately for Hyglak, he had started a quarrel with the apothecary's son before the game and the man refused to aid him. Bullwyf ate the apothecary during the second half since he was recovering in the BH box anyway and had nothing better to do.
The fans were excited to see both Zara the Slayer and Count von Drakenborg show up for the match. The 2 Stars never did get a chance to square off against one another, but both contributed greatly to their respective teams.
First half I got the ball and managed to get down to the other goal line in a few turns. I was having success blocking so I decided to stall and try a few passes. The passes worked, the stalling cost me the Minotaur to a BH hit from the Count. Both teams received a few KOs, and I scored a turn earlier than I wanted because I was low on rerolls and players on the field. We were able to provent a score in the time remaining.
Second half I kicked off being down a few men. My goal was to just prevent a score at all costs. After an epic midfield scrum with Zara and my blitzers going at the ball-carriers (the first wight dropped it but the second wight caught the bounce), I finally ended up with the ball in the hands of Skeld the Superstitious. A valiant attempt by the Count and a skeleton to slow Skeld down was in vain as the Norse rallied to get Skeld into the endzone with a blitz. The time remaining was used by the Slowrollers to get one score and inflict punsihment. They did inflict some harm, as Ragnar Dourhand received a niggling injury that will cost him his next game and possibly his career, but Foulrot the Decrepit tripped right at the goal line on turn 8. The Reavers threw a few final blocks and Rethel Sureshot threw a final pass as the game ended.
Great game, Crimsonwolf. You'd think the fans would have shown us more love with the FF, this was an incredible game. At least the money was good.
