In the second round of the Cabalvision Athletic Cup the Dead Knights met up against the Keepers of the Cure in what looked to be a tough slugfest. Despite the Keepers missing the beastman The Horns' blocking and tackling expertise, they still were a force to be reckoned with.

The game started tentatively with the Keepers receiving. After some initial feeling out of the foe and their strengths, the Knights began to slowly tear apart the Keepers. Sleet hurt The Weapon badly, opening the way to knock the ball loose. Ventrix recovered the ball and began to slowly move down field. Amun-Sul nearly crushed The Chosen One, but his resiliency allowed him to return after a brief respite. Despite Ventrix falling into the clutches of the tentacles of The Vessel, he was able to hold on long enough for Amun-Sul to knock The Vessel away. Still reeling form the shove, Icetouch was also able to escape The Vessel, thus setting up key protection for Ventrix. The Vessel, in another attempt to get it's tentacles on Ventrix charged Elric to clear the way. However Elric managed to take The Vessel down as well, breaking it's massive jaw. The massive damage inflicted by the Knights (3 casualties and 3 KOs) allowed Ventrix to score relatively unbothered as the half ended.

As the second half began things looked grim for the Keepers, but not impossible. While the loss of the great beast The Vessel was troubling, they started the half down only one man. However the sheer numbers of KOs inflicted upon the Keepers by the Knights finished the downward spiral that this game had become for the Keepers. By the time the Knights had scored a little into the fourth quarter, they had KO'd an additional 5 Keepers, all of whom decided discretion was the better part of valor and remained off the pitch. The Keepers ended up lobbing the ball deep into the Dead Knights' territory as time ran down, thus sealing the win for the Knights.

Terrible luck for Vlokiera, who's team seemingly could do nothing right. From excessive beastly stupidity to numerous failed +2d blocks eating at his rerolls, there was very little he could do, especially as my team began removing player after player from the pitch. Despite all the setbacks and challenges he played very well and was a cheerful competitor all throughout the match! I get the feeling that he has vowed to get me someday though...
