Entering the first area of The Great Hall of Celeano the Investigators were viciously attacked by a small band of swift, agile creatures, similar to Nightgaunts. Apparently these creatures served the Great Old One Yibb-Tstll, it which watches the universe from the center of all time.

Though swift, the Nightgaunt-hybrids were also fragile. The fury and desperation of the Investigators tore through them like a lightning bolt, and laid them out time and again. Despite this a mistake on the Investigators behalf at the end of the battle almost tipped the scales, but in the end the hybrids were soundly defeated.

Finding more equipment after the battle will give the Investigators new skills and abilities, better to fight on. The first area of the Gate has been traversed, but their is one more before they can emerge in Arkham and face the final challenge of Sealing the Gate, to make Arkham and the world slightly safer from the threat of the Ancient Ones and their minions...”
