“We're up against Tobrane78's ogres, who rather disturbingly have 10 ogres and 2 gobbos on the team. 9 of them have guard... that's going to be one tough wall of pain!
We get one handicap, ironman, meaning our +AGI blitzer won't be hurt today. We are chosen to kick and place the ball near the back corner - then rearrange our players with a perfect defence to target that side en masse. They block over a few players and pile into our line with a massed line of guard ogres. Good use of our black orcs and guards of our own lets us open things up with a few 1d blocks, letting us get some breathing room, and to break our AGI4 through after the ball before a gang foul puts an ogre in the BH box. Nice start!
Their lone goblin picks up the ball and then retreats into his own endzone with our ironman tackle/MB AGI4 blitzer in their half and no ogres to hide behind. Ironman charges right up to him with 2 GFIs, pinning him against the back wall - but the goblin nimbly dodges by and runs towards the half way line. No problem for our blitzer who charges back and badly hurts him! They have also managed to BH one of our other blitzers by this stage. They get ogres back to stand over the ball unfortunately, so we haven't managed to steal it, and are taking the hits - 2 KOs over the next couple of turns. T5 and they finally pick up the ball and start moving it ponderously towards our half.
They need every turn of movement to make it and on T7 the ogre with the ball fails his bonehead roll - hurrah. However they badly hurt a lineorc and KO our DP to leave us with just 6 players on the pitch. T8 and their coach 'bone heads' and doesn't notice his MA6 ogre is just in range of the endzone so instead they spend the turn punching players instead of trying for it - though without rerolls and at least a handoff to complete it was hardly an easy TD chance!
0-0 at half time. 2/3 wake up from our KO box so we have 9 vs 10 as we receive. Ironman AGI4 grabs the ball and runs to the half way line on our first turn, knocking over but failing to injure their gobbo on the way. They try and free up an ogre to make the blitz, but bone heads and poor blocking conspire to mess it up and our blitzer sprints deep into their half. They try and blitz back but again bone head stops it and we make it 1-0 on turn 4. Our gobbo wakes up but a blitzer remains KO'd so again it's 9 vs 10.
We put a sweet kick right in their endzone for maximum delay and get another perfect defence - nice. They are out of rerolls again and their third block on the LOS comes up double skulls- though we can't really break through to take advantage of it. Their goblin runs back into their endzone and grabs the ball - but with 5 bone heads in a single turn we're able to push players through after him - and in fact knock him over on T7. They try and make space around the ball but are forced to pick both-down on a 2d block and have to use their apo to save a niggle. Taking advantage of the turnover we're able to dodge our goblin into the endzone and make the pass to make it 2-0!
