The Crusaders were blessed by Nuffle today, both in the injury department and the dodge department. In spite of facing a plethora of mighty blow and tackle, they were able to stand up to the Paintreeots and give as good as they got. The game started with the Crusaders receiving. Loup-Garou was able to get the ball with no difficulty and then waited for an opening. It took a few turns as the teams battled for position, but he finally saw an opening and took off like he was chasing a cart! The kind with a stick on the back dangling a bone. A foul by Berlifitzing nearly ended Stave Nailsin's career (SI, niggling) but the Paintreeots apothecary was on the ball. However, the Crusaders were able to cover Loup-Garou all the way to the goal line and just hit until the end of the half, scoring in turn 8. The Paintreeots gave back some vicious hits and a foul of their own, but nothing worse than KO that wasn't regenned. On the T8 kickoff, an ice storm blew in and hung around the rest of the game. The second half the Paintreeots got off to a great start with 2 stuns and a KO on my LOS. Some more blocks and a foul and I was down a Flesh Golem (Otranto Frankenstein who regenned). The Crusaders tightened their straps and settled in for a long half. It was a gruelling battle, and we almost got to the ballcarrier when Ambrosio the Mad Monk slipped on the ice and skidded to a stop in front of Meeno Stabelleti. However, we put enough pressure on Meeno that he had to backpedal and regroup. On T7, he made his move, trying a short pass to a bull (Stave I believe), but of course Stave dropped it. Still, he was within reach of the endzone and had a turn for someone to get him the ball. Loup-Garou took out Meeno (BH) and then covered the ball with a TZ. A bunch of dwarves came over to rough him up, but when they pushed him onto the ball it bounced away from Stave and that sealed the game. Melmoth the Wanderer got a T8 BH on some CD who had been up in his grill all half and the final whistle blew.
This was a fun game, with quite a bit of banter going back and forth (and a few spouse interruptions including my wife locking herself outside in the rain). Coach ryanfitz got bitten by the double snake eyes bug a few times in the 1st half but at least neither of us lost FF. I'm sure the rematch will be just as entertaining.
