#13 Poopsicle – Broken Jaw (MNG)
“Underworld vs Calthor's slann. They have only one blocker, which should help us.
We kick and they catch it with a linefrog, who runs backwards to safety while they start bashing a way through. By T3 we have 4 of our players knocked out and are in serious trouble. We manage to 1d block over their ball carrier with 2 gobbos, but another linefrog catches it, and they quickly move upfield into safety near our endzone. We don't give up and on T5 another double gobbo 1d blitz knocks the ball free again - and this time our gobbo secures it. They line up players for a 3d blitz, but double 1s on a GFI gives us the turnover!
What follows is a glorious run by rookie gobbo Swizzle (who blitzed over the ballcarrier last turn) that will never be forgotten. He runs towards their endzone 4 turns in a row, evading their blitz attempts and covering some 20 squares before scoring the unlikely touchdown!!
With one turn each the slann line up to try for a 1-turn TD, but we foil it with a blitz! With our players poured into their half it's all they can do to get the ball out of it, and it bounces just inside our half with a failed catch from one of their catchers. We push him back and then despite being out of rerolls, make the pickup, hand-off and quick pass to a waiting linerat who runs in the touchdown! 2-0!! The slann fans can't believe it!
We collect the kick at the start of the 2nd half with our blodge thrower and run it behind our troll on the LOS, with a screen of gobbos behind. They leap in with a blitzer on T1 and their +STR catcher on T2, but despite burning rerolls both times can't roll that magic POW they need. T3 they get a chance at the ball after a whole load of skulls rolled by us, and after many pushbacks they finally get that POW. Everyone's standing in a pile around the ball and time is running out for the slann who need to score twice. T5 and they finally steal the ball with a blitzer, and we can't knock him down with a 1d blitz on our turn. He tries to pass to a waiting catcher, but fumbles the throw! On the following turn they manage to bounce the ball clear and a catcher grabs it to make it 2-1!
There's just one turn left each... let's hope they don't roll a blitz and do what we did last half.. but no - instead a fan throws a rock in and stuns one of their blitzers!
