In the opening round of the Fringe conference of the NWL, an understrength St Louis Hams met up against the battered Servitors. The Hams, fielding only nine players, met the now werewolfless Servitors in a pitched fight.

The struggle was intense, pitching the Hams' troll and black orcs against the Servitors' flesh golems and zombies. With few casualties, the match up quickly depended upon whatever mobility each team could muster. The numerical difference soon became apparent as the Servitors' wights and ghouls began to run around, creating holes, and eventually blitzing the ball carrier, stealing the ball and scoring. Ball handling problems gave the Servitors an opening as time ran down, allowing a second score before the half.

The Servitors delivered a strong start to the second half, knocking over players left and right. This allowed the wights to punch a hole through the Hams' line and drive down to score again. What favor Nuffle had bestowed upon the Hams deserted them at that point. Little went well for them and the Servitors stole the ball again to score.

Credit must go to Prophane, for his dogged determination, despite the continued reverses and difficulties he faced. Noteworthy as well was Orlando Pain, who lived up to his name very well. Traveling all over the pitch, he was a problem that required a dedicated double team, and even that didn't stop him all the time.
