“The Valar ownership came into season 17 with a very nervous outlook. The squad was not in good shape with two good Lions niggled and no reserves. They really needed to get some good luck early in the season to have a chance at competing. First half of the opening match saw a lot of first game jitters. Many 1's and skulls (for both teams) made for a very frustrating first half. The Quendi tried to force the action through the rookie lineman to get him skilled up, but paid the price for it. We ended up so far out of position that the Kitties easily stole the ball and we went into halftime down 1-0. Second half started out with the Quendi only able to field 7 guys against the Kitties full squad, which at that point really left us no chance. Thankfully we received some good winnings and were able to get another rookie lino added to the team.
