The Havenstreet Homeboys advance to the semi-finals of the WIBBL KO Cup with a 1-0 win over the Convent of Island Pleasure

With a full bench and a large quantity of Blodge, the convent were always going to be a challenge, although we were both helped and hindered by the niggling injuries on both sides, as Sister Brook a +ST linwoman insisted her injuries were currently paining her too much to take part in this crucial game, while Ahidracc Madglitter a star catcher in the making, also stayed on the bench for the entire game with his injuries.

The convent won the toss, and elected to recieve first. They promptly began to have a bash at the homeboys scrimmage men, and over the course of the first few turns, put both Homeboys guarders out cold along with a rookie, and injured another rookie so badly he wouldn't take part in the remainder of the match. At this point, as the convent slipped down one flank, the homeboys launched a desperate last gasp effort to clear their lines, the strip baller dodged cleanly into 3 TZs as he ripped the cage open, and caught the ball, far from ideal, with the ball still trapped in the midst of the cage, but atleast it slowed them down, and all their tacklers were otherwise occupied.

With a man still in a scoring position, and the ball, now nearly freed, the question became could the homeboys steal a score before the break?

However the sun blinded both attempts to get the ball to the potential scorer, leaving it 0-0 at half time.

With no players back from their KOs, it was 8 vs 11 in the second half.
A perfect defence made making the score a far harder prospect, but, incidentally, gave a gift of the chance to surf one, possibly 2 of the convent's exceptionally annoying blitzers.

The reply left a sufficiently small gap that my AG5 catcher grabbed the ball and ran with it, while everyone else did their best to run distraction for him.
As it was, he was caught and dropped, but jumped straight back up to grab the ball and score with ease.

And STILL the KOs didn't come back, leaving me with 8 to hold off 11 zons.

Suffering nothing worse than a stun in an arena where going another man down would have been lethal to our chances, we pulled through, managing to hold them off till the end.”
