“We took a real beating in this one, but the only perm was the death of the oft-disappointing Saladin III (the entire Saladin line is fairly shabby, TBH).
First half, a touchback lets us give the ball to 4spp longbeard Washington III. After a slugfest at midfield, the manage to knock down or tie up their whole team just long enough for Washington III to break away (at epic speeds, to be sure). S&T manage to keep putting a TZ on him though, and I spend the rest of the half batting orc hands away from the ball carrier, only to need a 4+ dodge in T8 to make the score. 1-0
Second half, the orcs just maul their way down the pitch and score, looking to try to get the ball back for a 2-1 win. We're a bit shorthanded by now, with a couple cas and my only foul attempt being caught by the ref. I'm also down to a single AG3 player, since A) I came to the game with just 1 blitzer, B) one runner was thrown out of the game, and C) the other runner was MNG a few turns ago. So it fell to Caesar to retrieve the ball and run it into the end zone in 6 turns.
The orcs certainly didn't make it easy. A small group of longbeards bottled up the black orcs at midfield, and did an admirable job trading blows. The blitzers and ST4 thrower of theirs bashed their way through my screen and forced some 1dbs and dodges, finally running me out of players to defend the ball with (I was outnumbered, and it was only a matter of time). They loosed the ball, but it stayed in a couple TZ. Cyrus, my mobile (Dodge/BT) beard, and Montezuma (my better slayer), managed to clear enough space that with dodging and a tough scoop, I was finally able to sneak past with the ball. T8 again though, a TZ on the ball forces a 1db blitz to get away, and when it goes Both-Down, I have to make the 3+ dodge to seal the win.
