Handicap - extra training (free reroll). At first I thought this was going to be useless, but I did end up using all my rerolls in the 2nd half. It didn't effect the outcome though, see below.
Another match report that I am very late in writing :( Boooooo! This was another exciting game for me, against a good coach that I've played several games against in various leagues (this one being FIBBA). I opted to receive the first half, but was unable to prevent the tying score. I did prevent a score in the 2nd half, but blew a chance to win the game outright.
The good - I played well, and it was a fun game. I didn't suffer any permanent injuries and didn't lose FF. Skilled 2 players, and MVP went to a zombie. 2nd half started with a great pitch invasion that stunned at least 3 Nobility players and really gave me a chance to steal the ball and win.
The bad - I had a chance to win, and blew it on a failed pick up (3+) with no rerolls and no time left. I also had a chance to prevent the tying score at the end of the 1st half, but failed a 3+ dodge, with the Dodge skill reroll, that would have given me a 2 die blitz on the ballcarrier with a normal reroll in case I didn't get a POW.
The ugly - I forgot there was no OT in this tournament format. On my T7, 2nd half, I got the ball away from his AG 4 beastman, and moved my Wight 2 squares away from the endzone, with 2 ghouls covering the beastman. I could have made the TD with 2 GFIs, but I had used a reroll already on T7 and I didn't want to risk it. In hindsight, I should have, since I still had 2 ghouls who could move in and pick up the ball if the wight fell. Mwilli72 dodged a Chaos Warrior over to take away an assist, then stood up the AG 4 beastman, dodged through a TZ and blitzed the ball loose, then scooped it up. On my T8, I was able to put an assist on the beastman and made a 2-die blitz of my own, but only rolled a push. I used the reroll on the blitz and got a POW, and the ball bounced right into the endzone (but not out). I moved the blitzing wight onto the ball and he muffed the pickup. Game over, no OT, and lost the tournament. I would have been heavily favored in OT as mwilli72 had a lot of players in KO plus 1 BH and 1 SI. A win would have given me enough points to win the tourney, but mwilli72 won the tournament instead. However, he did lose FF. I'm not sure what game these fans were watching :( He got slightly more winnings than I did.
Thanks for the game, mwilli72. I'll see you next month in another FIBBA tournament, and I will have my revenge!
Skills (2):
The King in Yellow - Guard (Block Guard mummy. Look out!)
Abhoth, The Source of Uncleanliness - Tackle (this is the goat who muffed the pickup, so I probably should have taken Sure Hands. But I have no Tackle on the team as my wights are fairly new).”
