“Vanguard National All*Star Challenge August 2010 - 2nd round

Handicaps against - Knuckledusters (Lord Damian HellConxez), Duh Where Am I? (Thufir Hawat, ghola 1)

Kord won the toss and elected to receive. First block of the game by Lord Damian HellConxez crippled (SI, niggling) Captain Aramsham who was playing his very first and possibly last game. I chose not to use the apothecary as I have been burned by using it too early in the past on unimportant players. The rest of the half was a comedy of errors on my team, rolling 1s when needing 2s (or the occassional 2 when needing 3s) and fumbling the ball all over the field or falling flat on their face. Kord scored once and nearly scored a second time but failed a GFI in the endzone. 2nd half I got 3 out of 4 KOs back (one of the few rays of hope) and managed to field 10 players. We somehow managed to score after some more fumbling around. We gave Kord 3 or 4 turns (can't remember now) to score. He fumbled his first pick up (we were both out of rerolls at this point) and I threatened the ball. Didn't amount to much, and he got it securely into a cage. Then I formed a fence around the cage (without touching where I could) and hoped I could stall for 2 turns. Suddenly the dice turned for me instead of against me. The ball ended up on the ground, and with time expiring, St. Alia of the Knife swooped in, picking it up in traffic, and dodged away (3 total dodges) to make a Long Bomb to the waiting Dr. Liet-Kynes who was 1 step from the endzone. She nailed the throw, he made the catch, and I stole a game that should have gone to OT where Deamonson most likely would have beat me to a bloody pulp and ground out a 2-1 OT victory.

Thanks for the frustrating game, Kord :) You played a solid game and should have won. You also had an even better attitude about the whole thing and congratulated me the moment the pass was successful. Good luck to you in your other tournaments this month and I hope we play each other again.
