#2 Flob – Smashed Hand (MNG)
#5 Roms – Smashed Knee (NI)
An enjoyable game in which the Vamps and Elves cam out evens. Theleves had the luck with the Cas rolls scoring lots of KOs on the Vamps to thin out thier numbers. This advantage was partially offset by what looked like a bug in the bloodlust roll when a vamp tried to stand up, faile dthe blood lust roll then was deselected. If this had been working right then the elves would have had a huge advantage and would surely have won.

Both halves started with a Blitz! and the Vamps capitalised at the start of the game to get an early score after 2 re rolls were burnt trying to pick up the ball and throw it to safety. An untimely double skull with no rerolls left the elves with a big hole to charge through and equalise as the half drew to a close.

The elves pressed on their blitz in the second half and had the vamp with the ball cornered. Some solid dodging and hypnogaze saw the vamp escape a crowd push and the ball was back on the line of scrimmiage. Lots of wrestling and blocking then ensued with each side freeingthe ball up only to see it caught by a player who had already taken an action or by the opposition. The ball stayed in the ruck until the second to last turn when the vamps broke for the line. The blitzer was able to take down the thrall and was not knocked down on the return blitz leaving the thrall a 3+ 4+ 3+ 2+ for the score which was failed at the first roll. The elves went for a long shot and chain pushed the catcher into scoring range. The blitzer then needed a 2+ 2+ 4+ 2+ 2+ to take the match but failed on the ball pickup resulting in a hard fought draw.

On the sad side, the guard elf ended with a niggling injury but it was better than the killed he rolled up first. On the plus, the skilled up line elf rolled doubles so now I have 2 guards.

I was already down 2 players for this match so I think next game will be using 3 journeymen. In the old days I would probably have retired the team!
