“The third game of the WIL season saw an all Dwarf encounter, as the Miners faced off against the Bearded Beerbellys.
badgertheking was in confident form, as he declared that luck had been with him this season and he showed early bravery by deciding to use the apothecary, to ensure a player could take the field.
The Miners started the game, but were quickly out-manned as the beerbellys started to break through the Miners armour. The Miners spotted their chance though and broke down the flank where their 3 player shortage would not show. The Beerbellys tried to stop them, bringing down the Miners blodger runner a couple of times, but the final time left the ball close enough for the Miners runner to collect the ball and score for 1-0. With a pitch invasion not allowing Beerbellys enough time for a response they took to adding to their casualty tally, as 2 more Miners were carried from the pitch.
After the break the Beerbellys launched their own attack, but the Miners were able to bring down the ball carrier, as a melee began around the ball. The Beerbellys picked it up once more, but an amazing play by the Miner's Blitzers saw the ball carrier protection downed and the carrier crowded. The Beerbellys tried to break through again, but when their runner failed to pick up the ball, the Miners were able to take out their only possible scorers, leaving them without the chance to equalise. There was even time for the Miners to launch the ball upfield for 2-0 as the final whistle blew.
Thanks for the game badger and best of luck for the rest of the season.”
