#10 Pietrusha – Fractured Skull (-AV)
The Travellers arrived for the match still stinging from their 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Kleen up Krew and without a star Catcher who had gone down hard and early in the previous match. The Pythons were also arriving with journeymen in hand after a hard match.

The coin flip went to the Travellers who elected to receive and pushed back the Pythons' line, simultaneously sending their catcher and a Blitzer around the left flank while Brobdingnag got the ball and moved it up to them. The Pythons surged in defence, lead by their blitzer Lumberjack. Unfortunately he misjudged just how much the Travellers hated their distant cousins, forgetting their mean spirited play against the Comic Book Villains two weeks ago. Suddenly he was on the ground, lifeless, only to awake later in the reserves box with a nervous apothecary hovering over him. With the Pythons reeling, Blefuscu ran the ball in for a quick 1-0 lead.

On the ensuing kick off the Travellers once again pounced and were able to score a second time, all the while sending more Python players to the casualty box to be tended by the team physicians. One Python player who wasn't so lucky was the team assassin Spanish Inquisition, who took a vicious block late in the first half, falling lifeless to the pitch. He had troubled the Travellers team for a number of plays, but paid the price. The Travellers weren't without their own worries as they had lost their solitary catcher and blitzer Liliput in the first half.

The score at the half 2-0 Travellers, down to 9 men versus 8 for the opposition.

The second half started with a strong drive by the Pythons. They were able to even remove the second blitzer Blefuscu from the pitch, but in exchange their numbers were dwindling, with a lineman falling to a serious knee injury and many badly hurt Elfs. Still the Pythons were able to press down close to the goal line and exploit a defensive blunder by the Travellers who left a player wide open for a hand off and run into the end zone. 2-1 Travellers.

With the Pythons only able to field five players the Gullible ones were able to take full advantage and score a third touchdown to put the game out of reach. As with their past win though, their eagerness to start the celebrations early hurt them as Pietrusha took a devastating block that required the apothecary to save him from near death to just plain broken.

After the game the Travellers celebrated, and again perhaps took it too far. The coach, eager to hire on another up-and-coming catcher, forgot to factor in the necessary funds to keep journeyman star Osmond Hardstone (5SPP, 1TD and 1 CAS) with the team. More rigorous management guidelines have since been put in place.

Overall it was a very enjoyable game (winning helps) and mwilli was a great opponent. I definitely had some very good dice, and although mwilli's rolls were not horrible, they sure let him down when things were most critical. Thanks for the game.

n.b. Some of the details of when things happened may be off as I am going from memory. I apologize in advance for any mistakes.
