The Suckers took the field vs the Gemfinders with a whole lot of swagger and confidence. Which was quickly wiped of off their fanged faces.
Despite an early blitz, the 'Finders quickly racked up cas after ko after cas. In short order the Suckers were down numerous players and the Gemfinders had no difficulty scoring on their first half drive.
Even thought the ref held up the game for a turn at the end of the first half the Suckers just couldn't overcome the incessant thirst of their vampires to even have a chance at scoring (5 failed ofab including some snakes in the first 6 turns!)
The second half started with even numbers on the field due to the Suckers deep bench and they wasted no time in equalizing the score. By the end of their T2 the vampire team had tied it up. But then came the critical 2nd half defense.
Unfortunately the Suckers just could'nt withstand the Gemfinders relentless tackle/ MB combination and were quickly down players and with few options. Despite repeated attempts at the ball-carrier (including a succesful blitz/ knockdown that bounced into the hands of a Dwarf blodge Runner) the Suckers just couldn't get the ball free from the tenacious Dwarfs.
The bearded ballers pushed the ball across the goalline late in the 2nd half to secure the win. The Suckers were lucky to get thru the match without a permanent injury.
In the post match interview Coach Ironcollar had the following to say:
"The lads did their best, but the heavy hitting of the dwarfs coupled with the unusually thristy vampires combined for a seriously bad situation. We were forced into desperate plays with low chances for success thru most of the game. Despite that we almost pulled out a tie. The Suckers can be proud of their effort, if not the result. It's a long season, and I look forward to my team's response to this setback with some solid play from here forward."”
