“Up against PeteW's woodies, who are in fine shape with +MA on both wardancers and plenty of guard. We have hired the Count but I think we'll still need some early injuries to win this one.
They get one handicap of DUH for the count (he's turned up drunk!) and we opt to receive.
We spend most of T1 failing to knock over their treeman and have committed too many players so when we fumble the 3+ pickup in the rain they can rush through players. Their dauntless-tackle catcher does his job, stunning our ghoul and suddenly we're in trouble at the back.
We blitz backwards with a tackle ghoul and reroll to stun their catcher, before the count dodges back and with 2 GFIs grabs the ball. T2 and their strip ball wardancer can 1d blitz the ball free and on T3 the count double 1 bone-heads at a crucial moment so we can't get the ball. They snatch it up and make it 1-0!
We receive the kick again and this time do things better, collecting the ball first time, and MNGing their tree with a mummy on T5. We score a few KOs and get a DP sent off for our third foul in a row, and on T6 MNG their AGI5 guarder (useful!). T7 and a blodger has tripped over to BH himself and we have the ball near their endzone.
They get a 2d blitz in and score the POW they need (no tacklers left on the pitch) but fortunately on T8 we're able to clear space, pick it up with one AGI4 ghoul, hand off to the other and make it 1-1!
They have one turn til half time and both get a RR (they had 0) and catch the kick off.. uh oh! They make the chainpushes they need... and with a single GFI (using the reroll!) make it 2-1!!
Curses!!
We kick again for the 2nd half and a max range scatter (despite Kick) gives them a touchback. They rush through for a 2-turn TD.. and even with the count's hypno giving us a 2d blitz we can't get the POW we need. They crowdsurf the blitzing mummy with a few 2d blocks and then make it 3-1.
We run back as fast as we can to score on T6 to make it 3-2, though we have only removed 1 more elf players despite some more DP fouls (all KOs!!) so it's 11 vs 9 with 2 turns left.
We pray for a blitz.. and get it!! This lets us run both AGI4 ghouls through to catch our own kick... chance of a draw here! But their dauntless tackler quickly removes it with a double POW blitz and a catch of the bouncing ball. They surround with their entire team and we cannot get near it before the end whistle blows.
