Let me try to describe what happened...

my turn 1; I fail gfi despite re-roll.
his turn 2; he badly hurts a line-elf and ko's another.
my turn 2: first dodge on 2+ (with dodge skill) failed. turnover
my turn 3: first dodge I attempt failed, but the re-roll succeeds. I blitz the ball-carrier but manage only to push-back. My second dodge fails.
my turn 4: fail 2 out of my first four dodges (first saved by rr'
his turn 4: seriously injures an Elf. (no niggle so i save my apothecary)
my turn 5: for some reason things get desperate and I have to push a Black Orc with one die. Skull. Of course.
my turn 6; best thus far! I even manage to knock an orc over with my blitz. My second dodge however fails. (and he's stunned.)
In his 7th turn he scores. I have two turns left but no re-rolls.
My KO elf is still KO (of course)
my turn 7; my first roll of the dice; double skulls. (of course)
my turn 8 was the best so far. I manage a completion. In an attempt to knock a few heads I have to dodge once. Failed btw.

2nd half:
KO elf remains KO (surprised? I wasn't by then)

turn 1; it actually resembles elves. Manage a few dodges and even pick up the ball!
turn 2: I try to get a few Elves near the end zone which is hard when there are 4 more Orcs on the pitch than Elves... I manage somewhat.
turn 3: I manage two dodges and even pass the ball (burning a rr but that´s still lucky considering my dice thus far) scoring a touchdown.

I cannot believe my luck. ;-)

In the remaining half I even manage to blitz the ball-carrier and score a second td, i even stalled a turn securing victory because Orcs cannot score in a single turn (not without gobbo's anyway)
