“After only 2 seasons (and a few bribes to the league) Fulham were in the Premier and were to face West Bromwich Foulbion in their first game.

No pre-season and an injury during the warm up mean't the Humans only lined up with 11 players, a number Fulham quickly reduced as they moved the ball down the field. West Brom did what they could to slow the Dwarves, even forcing Volz to limp off with a minor injury, but it was not enough and Fulham led 1-0 at the break.

After the break West Brom tried to create an opening, but a couple of errors by Neil Clement allowed Fulham to come away with the ball. The Fulham players were getting stuck in and soon Dean Kiely and another player making a testimonial appearance were both killed, as Fulham scored once more for 2-0 as the final whistle went.
