“Ted: Good evening and welcome to the live transmition from the Mugs Stadium in Munich. I am Ted Anchor and with me here in the studio I have Fred Smith. We're looking forward to this anticipated match very much; when last these to teams met it was a 1-1 draw, but things have changed since then. The Mugs made it to the playoffs last season and it's clear that they have an advantage over the Armadillos in sheer experience. Question is if the team play of the Armadillos is enough to stop the agile Mugs. What do you think Fred?
Fred: Well Ted, I think it's gonna be close. The Armadillos have shown very good teamplay, and their linemen especially have been known to assist eachother where other teams linemen simply couldn't have. A slow drive down the field might be the best plan for the Armadillos, preferable sending the catcher ahead to tie up some of the Mugs players. On the other hand the Mugs have a very agile team. Many players have exceptional skills with the ball and it's gonna be hard to stop them.
Ted: Thank you Fred, I feel the same way. I see the players are taking the field, the Mugs won the toss and have chosen to recieve. There's the kickoff and... wow! What looked like a standard defence formation wasn't. A quick change by the players and suddenly the Mugs are faced with a wall of players to get through, it's gonna be tough.
The Mugs are trying for a break through on the right side, but the sheer amount of Armadillo Players have them stopped dead. Look at that; it took four players to take down Frank "Fury" Nash.
Fred: This is exactly what I was talking about. Teamplay at it's finest. See how the Armadillo players assist eachother where it's needed. It's gonna be tough getting through this for the Mugs.
Ted: A daring move down the left by EON. And there it was, the Armadillos clering the way, and it's Gary "Longbomb" Arlington trying to take down EON. I guess he doesn't just practise throwing after all.
Fred: It wasn't enough though, EON is tough, it'll take more than a weak block like that to put him down.
Ted: A good try though.
Fred: Indeed it was, and probably have the Mugs a bit nervous.
Ted: Looks like it, they look to have halted their forward movement and concentrated more on defending the ball. Probably the best too at this point.
Fred: And there it came. What we've been waiting to see. That's the strength of the Mugs right there. A small opening in the Armadillo defence and EON is sprinting for it.
Ted: And Frank "Fury" Nash is after him. This is gonna be close. Can he catch the faster EON?
Fred: I think he can Ted.
Ted: He did, but wait, no! Only a stumble. EON still holds on to the ball.
Fred: No, Frank "Fury" Nash does it. A brutal play, not something we endorse here at Light City Studios (tm), he simply gave up on trying to bring him down and instead pushed him out of the field.
Ted: We should explain to the viewers that that means he won't be returning until next kickoff. Rules state you can't return to the field if you're pushed out.
Fred: The ball ended up all the way back in the Armadillos endzone from that move. Not the best for the Armadillos, but at least it's better than EON having it.
Ted: You bet. And Timothy "Stealth" White got it now. He should be able to keep it. And you were right about the slow drive it looks Fred. Looks like the Armadillos are boxing in the ball and taking their time moving up the field.
Fred: Yes, it's exactly how I thought they would. Playing on their strength. Definitely the best play at the moment.
Ted: We can actually hear the Mugs coach up here, yelling at his players.
Fred: Yeah, he must be mad with fury after losing the ball there. That looked like a sure touchdown.
Ted: It did.
Fred: Let's wait and see. We're only in the first half. A lot can happen.
Ted: Oh, and look at that! A handoff to Gary "Longbomb" Arlington. Quite the reverse of what we normally see huh Fred?
Fred: Indeed. This just goes to show again the great teamplay of the Armadillos. Not afraid to fill other positions and letting others fill theirs.
Ted: And there you have it folks. 1-0 at half time, touchdown by Gary "Longbomb" Arlington after a handoff from Timothy "Stealth" White. Second half, the Mugs kicking. A very short kick, I suppose they want to try and put preassure on the Armadillos from the very start.
Fred: Might be, after all they are behind with a touchdown and the Armadillos have the ball.
Ted: It looks like the Armadillos are continuing their slow drive.
Fred: Except this time they have had time to set up for it. Look at how Timothy "Stealth" White is up there just waiting for the pass. He could tie up a few players easily.
Ted: And he did. But, oh no! He was tackled by Odeonsplatz. The Armadillos clearly had it all planned for the pass there, now there's noone to pass to.
Fred: Ouch, Gary "Longbomb" Arlington got hit hard by BMW. The ball is on the ground. No. Wait. There, Marienplatz dodging in between the Armadillo Players. A short throw to EON, and he's running. No way the Armadillos are gonna catch him this time Ted.
Ted: No Fred, doesn't look like it. He's very fast once he gets up to speed.
Fred: And it's done. 1-1, touchdown by EON.
Ted: Another setup. The Mugs kicking again. A deeper kick this time, probably trying for the tie now.
Fred: Might be Ted. But the Armadillos aren't gonna let them. Both catchers running deep. The Mugs will have to do something about that.
Ted: And they are. Just look at that. Four players spend tying up the two catchers. That's gonna leave a lot of room for the rest of the team to take their time.
Fred: The Armadillos surely want to score now. Even Henry "Stonefist" Anderson is running to recieve now. They're not gonna let the tie stand.
Ted: And there's the throw. Oh my god, it's a bad throw. It's wide wide wide. It ended up in the spectators stand. What a blunder by Gary "Longbomb" Arlington.
Fred: Oh my, this is a big chance for the Mugs actually. The ball was nearly caught by Hypo Vereinsbank.
Ted: Instead it's Sechziger with the ball. A pass to MAN, who's taking off.
Frank: And again it's Frank "Fury" Nash who is after the ball carrier. That man has a nack for being where things are happening.
Ted: He does. But is it enough, he's very alone trying to stop MAN from scoring.
Frank: Unlike MAN who get's backup from both Goldener Engel and Englischer Garten.
Ted: Yes, it's done, MAN scores the winning touchdown. The Mugs wins 2-1.
Frank: A very unlucky loss for the Armadillos if you ask me Ted. They looked to be doing well in the first half.
Ted: They did. They seem to have trouble scoring when it really counts. Happened last game against Innsbruck Highflyers aswell.
Frank: It did. That's something they'll have to work on for sure.
Ted: Well, it's done. A very exciting match I think. Let's hope the Armadillos can do better next match. Until then, we're your hosts, Ted Anchor and Fred Smith, wishing you all a good weekend.
Fred: Until next time folks.”
