We also continue our trend of maiming excellent skinks, with a -av to Nasty Newt, our current favorite opposing player. After killing Scales Sanchez in days of yore, it looks as if we're actively hunting down the best skinks around :) Our next project, after having brought Nasty Newt to av5, will be to work on some niggling injuries for him!
As for the game itself, we received first and started in on the cas in Turn 1, and slowly built on it from there. We knew we couldn't stop NN from getting to the ball carrier, so we stuck with our AG4/Block skink, Valiant Silver Hatchling to hold/protect the ball. Despite his blodginess, NN got the ball from him a couple times, and eventually UTS rid our side of skinks in the first half. Our sauri were still all there though, and we kept the clamps on the attempted counterattack, even getting as far as a scoop with Regal Purple Dragon late in the half to get us to 1-0.
Second half, we cut off UTS's sideline push, and up by 2 sauri by now, they looked like they lacked the muscle to push through our blockade. They went for the reverse-field end-around, handing off to a fairly ordinary skink, who tried the "please don't POW me this turn" defense in the hopes of a tying score. 1 GFI was all it took for us to put 3db+Tackle+MB on that skink though, and the ball was ours again, with our AG4/Blocker taking custody once more. With a more effective convoy this time, we took the ball down the field and were able to hand it off to Dastardly Blue Dragon (14spp) to score and learn how to Blodge.
GG Prov. One of these days A) my luck will run out and B) NN or some successor of his is going to cram 5 TDs down my throat in vengeance ;)”
