I kick to Mayhemman and nothing memorable at kickoff. He starts hitting, but fails to pick up the ball with his MA8 Bull on the first try. I hit back and try to stop his cage from forming with partial success. Next turn he gets the ball and starts reforming the cage. My Wrestle zombies are making nuisances of themselves and I am having some decent success with Blocking all around. Mayhemman is feeling the pressure and breaks out and sprints the MA8 bull for the endzone, with a hobgoblin trailer for cover. I'm able to blitz the hobgoblin and put some markers on the Bull. He springs the Bull free, but makes a critical decision here. I call this a decision and not a mistake because I honestly don't think it was the wrong call. Instead of scoring, he moves as far south as he can away from my horde, but it's still within extreme range. What happens next is both amazing and a pleasant change for me (having been on the wrong end of this more times than I care to count). Word Up! moves 9 squares (2 gfis) and marks the bull. No rerolls needed. Next Der Kommissar dodges free and marks the bull. No rerolls needed. Finally Safety Dance safely dances away and 2 die blitzes the bull carrier, needing only 1 GFI: POW! No Rerolls needed. I push him into the endzone in the hopes the ball goes out of bounds. No luck. A few more blocks and then I pass turn. Mayhemman is now desperate to get that ball back. Long story short, he tries hard but can't get it. I block him onto the ball again and it still doesn't go out of bounds, but Mr. MA8 bull is stunned. I decide to get the ball and punt it, putting it almost exactly where I aim: right next to a zombie! By this point Mayemman is out of rerolls and I still have 3. He tries again to get it free, but can only mark it. I count the spaces and the turns remaining and decide to go for a 3rd score. It took a lot of work and some of my rerolls, but I manage to clear it, pick it up, and get it within 9 spaces of the endzone on T7. I also manage to get protect the carrier, Word Up!, reasonably well. T8 for the Blackrock Boys and they can only manage to mark the carrier, since they had to use the blitz to open a hole. My final turn, I free up enough zombies to get a 2 die blitz, push his Frenzy Bull away, and Word Up! heared the call and had to get it under way... all the way to the endzone! Didn't even need the last reroll for the GFIs.
So I pull off a victory mainly because I decided to take some risks and Nuffle blessed my dice. Mayhemman played a good game and just didn't quite have as good of dice. Oh, the other thing that REALLY made a difference were the 2 RIPs that regnerated. That was HUGE! I've had so many games lately where regen and/or apothecaries have failed, this was so nice. The MTV Generation will play some hits for Nuffle tonight in tribute to his blessings.
Thanks for the game, Mayhemman, and good luck with your team. Those Bulls are monsters, I hope you are able to get some more skills on them.
Skills (1):
Money For Nothing - Block (2 6); MVP not for Nothing! That's what I can say about his performance today. MNF had a TD and a CAS and made a regular nuisance of himself. Now that he has Block, he won't have to fear those Skull/Pows. How if only he could break AV 6 with his Mighty Blow. Claw must have worked in reverse :) Actually, he just rolled a 4. Sad. Maybe he just feels sorry for broken hobgoblins.
I think we're going to keep Harold for a bit. He reminds us of Harold Faltermeyer, composer of Axel F (Beverly Hills Cop) and the Top Gun Anthem.”
