“This game felt much closer than the score. Sometimes you get beat 2-0, and you say, "I got handled." But this time, I thought it could have gone either way. My opponent played a solid game, and in the first drive only really needed a touch of luck to score, taking a lot of damage in the process.
I really should have scored in the second half, but the Pouring Rain was enough to make me burn all my TRRs trying pickups, all of which failed. My opponent, with some AG5 and slightly better dice, had no such misfortune, and after a nasty, wet slog of a drive, managed to bring home the final score on T16.
Notes on the game:
* I'm really regretting the misclick on Rocky's skill selection. When I took the skill, I thought I was skilling Rush, so I gave him Tackle. Rocky's lack of Dodge (and my oppo's DP) got him SI'ed in this game, and his Tackle was just better than a total non-factor. I have to get him to 31 SPP pronto!
* Like I said, the ball was one-sided. The blocking was one-sided too, the other way. I beat the snot out of him, though the Cas I scored were all BH's and my only one was an SI. Sigh.
* Dirty Player really shone for my opponent. He SI'ed Rocky Mountain, and my Apothecary failed. He also KO'ed Lou Z. Anapurgis, who never came back from the game. That's 23 turns missing players worth 140-150k at the cost of maybe five actions, plus 16 more turns next game! The Ref saw nothing, even though he fouled four times. The only thing that stopped him from fouling was when I BH'ed one of his Dirty Players and that put him at seven men.
* This was a SS clinic. Both teams had multiples of SS, and each used it to completely ruin the other's day, creating a very intense game.”
