“Warpstone Open Pre-Finals Warm-Up: Opponent's Edition
Morehouse had a little clean-up work to do on his dwarfs in between his victory in the WO Qualifiers and the main event, and I offered up my orcs (face it, championship-caliber dwarf teams don't find a lot of pro elves and skaven to play).
First half, we faced the deathroller, and it harassed us most of the half. Aside from that, we bashed in some beardy faces and cleared a path to the end zone. We had a bit of a scare when the DR and a runner combined to steal the ball briefly, but we got guys back there to retrieve it, and that's where we left the DR in the dust, a failed GFI effectively taking it out of the action as we outran it.
There was a hairy moment in T8, as we moved our troll for an assist, we overlooked that he was in a TZ, and moving into 2 more. Nuffle sighed, rolled his eyes, and gave us the 6 anyway. We scored in T8, and the dwarfs used their bribe to keep the DR for the second half. We hadn't removed enough of them that they had to set it up in their T8 (a failed dodge/RIP used up their apo, but it put the longbeard in the reserves, thwarting our efforts).
On offense, the dwarfs left the slow DR on the bench, planning for a quick score, then using the DR for a defensive TD to win it. A brilliant kick to the end zone and one turn of bumbling the ball helped us pressure them into making a naked run for the end zone, counting on us not being able to make a few GFIs/dodges to stop him. Seeing as we won 1-0, you can see we managed to stop him.
The last few turns were spent trying to give a TD to a BoB, and blocking anything that moved. We weren't able to manage a 4+ in the last 3 turns though to take the ball.
GG morehouse. Hope to see you in the WO finals (though it's a snowball's chance I manage 3 more wins to get there).
