Having been benched for all of the first half, Sidewinder came onto the pitch itching for some glory of his own, and duly went on to pluck the ball out of the air for an interception, even whilst being marked my the Wood Elves' hulking Treeman. That boy must have nerves of steel. With the play stretched and players all over the pitch, the Wood Elves quickly turned the ball back over. However, the Raiders pulled off another interception when Radreut Greenshot gathered in the ball. This time there was no stopping the Raiders and they went 2-0 up half way through the second half, effectively sealing the game. Indeed, Greenshot had a chance to get a coveted Larson if only coach Smyth had been more awake during his final drive, when all the elf needed was a completion to get his name in the record books.
The Raiders were certainly helped by some uncharacteristic fumbles and trips by the Wood Elves at crucial moments of the game, as well as their own blocks doing some serious damage to key players.
Thanks to coach Candlejack for a great game. I'll fly the elf-bowling flag in the qualifier final against whichever of the two uncultured bruisers make it through!”
