“Another game the Cheesemovers managed to hang onto the tie. 1st half Kickoff result was a Pitch Invasion that got at least 5 of my players and only 1 of his. Made defense very tough, and we just ran out of players, the Fridgites made a nice move at the end to get in the endzone. Had a nice setup for a 1 turn TD but I missed a gap and didn't get the push I needed. Still had enough players to recover, but next block was a TRIPLE SKULL! Damn dice. 2nd half the first kickoff was a Pitch Invasion actually in my favor (3 to 4 I think) but it opened up a side for me. Got the ball and scored relatively easy in 2 turns (needed some a blitz and a dodge to clear). Next kickoff was Quick Snap! (no love on the Kick-off tables today) but I had a full 11 so I felt good about stopping the Fridgees. Then the armor breaks started raining. Had already used the apothecary to save my Claw Linerat (no regrets since it worked), lost my Blodge SS GR to -AV (will probably keep for now) and a 0 SPP Linerat got a niggling injury (may or may not cut, we'll see). My opponent had a serious man advantage and had me completely blocked off from the ballcarrier. I managed to force my way into his half-cage, BH one of the Beastmen in the process, but he quickly cleared. This is where I got lucky and Coach Chazzman got greedy. He tried a Quick Pass to his Loner Beastman that had 2 SPP from an earlier CAS. Dropped it, rerolled, dropped it again (or Loner failed I am not sure which). Ball is on the ground, but I can't get to it so I try to get close. He picks it up again and tries a handoff, another drop. I try to get to it but fall down. He now just tries to pick it up presumably for the score (since he is out of rerolls) but fumbles it into the endzone. Suddenly, Mozzarella Mouse scrambles to his feet, dodges through several TZs multiple times (hurray Two Heads!), picks it up in traffic, dodges away some more, makes a single GFI to clear all TZs, and punts it downfield. It wasn't a long punt, but it was accurate and was far enough to make any score attempt extremely difficult. After a few blocks to clear the INT path, and a blitz to surf the Mouse (the crowd loved him and gave him a big hug before escorting him back to the dugout), the Fridgites tried to get the ball but fumbled it and the game ended in a draw. I am quite pleased with the results considering I was expecting a loss, but I don't think chazzman was as happy. He and his team left the pitch without the traditional post game handshake, but the Cheesers didn't really mind as they had had enough contact with those Chaos Warriors to last 2 games.

This game was special in another way: it saw the Cheesers very first permanent injury that was not apothecaried. And being such a special event, they did it in style with both a stat break AND a niggling injury, with a successfully apo'd RIP thrown in for good measure. I am quite proud of them for going 7 games before suffering anything permanent. I hope this bodes well for their future and it will only happen every 7 games :) Doubtful Nuffle would be so kind. <shakes fist at the sky>
