“In round 2 of the Northern Wastes League's 20th season, Bloody Spike division, the Abyssal Syndicate faced off against the New York Sewer Rats. The underworlders of the Syndicate were the underdogs again, especially after the poor showing of last game. Their only real advantage was the massive troll Glazzach, the biggest and toughest player on both teams. The Sewer Rats on the other hand were flying high off the numerous touchdowns they scored in the first game, thier four gutter runners eager to get some bashes in on the goblins of the Syndicate.

The opening kickoff to the Sewer Rats saw them make a massive sideline rush, clearing the way for a quick score. However Gorebuck bobbled his pickup, leaving him and Puzz as the only Sewer Rats near the ball. The Syndicate took a risk and turned en mass to charge the ball, attempting to secure it. The Sewer Rats countered with some goblin bashing and a dedicated rush with their gutter runners. Nirk acquired the ball for the Sewer Rats but fumbled the pass. The Syndicate quickly KO'ed two Sewer Rats as their Zenkt picked up the ball. By this time the Sewer Rats had half their team in front of the ball carrier and half behind, leaving lateral movement as the only option for the Syndicate, as they took out more Sewer Rats. Zenkt handed the ball to Jazzail to rush for the touchdown, only to trip at the last moment. Fans threw the ball back into play midway in the Sewer Rats' side, with few players around. A blocking failure by Coruck left another opening for the Syndicate as Lunk grabbed the ball. By this time the Sewer Rats were outnumbered 10 to 7, having lost two linerats, a thrower and a gutter runner. Despite the losses, the Sewer Rats kept pressure on the ball, eventually forcing a handoff to Mazzik that he dropped. The Gutter Runner Garuk slipped in under their noses and stole the ball, successfully completing a long bomb to Irksiz who paused just shy of the goal line to whip up the fans. With no one in range to stop the score, Glazzach ran back, picked up Fezzar and flung him toward Irksiz. Somehow landing on his feet, Fezzar barreled into Irksiz, stunning him. Skerris of the Syndicate managed to get there as Fezzar scrambled to their feet and together they held off the final Sewer Rats' rush for time to run out.

Starting the second half, things were looking difficult for both teams. The Syndicate's ball handler Jazzail was out with a smashed hand and the Sewer Rats were outnumbered 9 to 7. But the opening kickoff made things even worse for the Sewer Rats when Zulbash died at Tzerrich's hands. Skerris picked up the ball for the Syndicate, hiding behind a shield of goblins to keep the gutter runners off him. Initially this was unsuccessful as the gutter runners ran rings around the goblins, but could not bring Skerris down. After some amazing blocking by the Syndicate (taking 3/3 gutter runners down and KOing a Blitzer) Skerris once again got behind his "goblin wall". The Sewer Rats responded by KOing a Syndicate Blitzer as they tried to recover. Skerris continued to slowly march down the sideline, covered by goblins as well as Glazzach and Mazzik when they were available. While the Sewer Rats' Gorbuck managed to penetrate the defensive cage enough to shove Skerris around, he was quickly pushed off the pitch. Now outnumbered 8 to 4 the Sewer Rats' gutter runners took to trying insanely difficult feats of agility to get to the ball which all ultimately failed. Skerris waltzed in leaving scant time on the clock for a quick score, and even that was denied by the Syndicate's perfect defense.

A good game against coach Collinisimo, who was graceful under pressure, especially when his blocking in the early game went nowhere. Even so, his gutter runners were everywhere they needed to be, and it was only when severely outnumbered that I even had a chance to prevent the gutter rush. All in all, a massive improvement for the Syndicate. Their blocking was great, their block avoidance excellent, and it all came together this time. The Syndicate even recruited one of their "temps" after the game. As he had some "legal issues" he has now been renamed Bendz.”
